What You'll Love in Covington

Parks & recreation

You'll notice there are many ways to savor the outdoors when you take a closer look around Covington. Nestled against the Stillwater River, Covington Community Park is a place you can count on for riveting outdoor adventures. Here, locals love to have picnics at the enclosed shelter houses, or they can sprawl out on the wide-open green spaces alongside the river. The 69.3-mile Stillwater River serves as the village's ideal spot for residents to put in their canoes and cast their fishing lines.

Delish dining

At the intersection of Covington's two main thoroughfares, South High Street and US-36, you can taste a few of the village's most-frequented dining spots. Y'all's Country Club is the place to be on the weekends, with oven-hot pizzas, refreshing drinks, live music, and even the occasional karaoke special. Craving something sweet after your meal? Locally owned for more than 15 years, Sweet Treats takes pride in serving its community the very best ice cream scoops! And since every small community has to have a classic Mexican restaurant, Mariachis Mexican Bar & Grill delivers Taco Tuesday specials each week, in addition to daily happy hours.

Nature attractions

Situated along its namesake creek, Greenville Falls State Scenic River Area is any nature lover's paradise. The area is well-known for its 20-foot rushing waterfall, plus the river has a natural limestone arch that has been formed by its flowing water over the years. At this scenic area, you can immerse yourself in both historical remnants and today's wildlife. In addition to its traditional activities of fishing and picnicking, Stillwater Prairie Reserve is a popular place to hike while watching the birds overhead. The reserve's circular hiking trails passes through a variety of ecosystems, with some of the trails running alongside the river.

Exemplary schools

Even if you don't have children, it's worth doing some research on public schools before buying a home—they can actually increase property values over time! Luckily, Covington's students attend the Covington Exempted Village Schools, which operates one elementary, middle, and high school. Through a drastic renovation project in 2015 and 2016, a new K–8 building was constructed and all three school buildings were combined into one campus—which we imagine makes carpooling easier than ever!
